Dr. Ali Gomaa

Chairman of the Board

Professor Dr. Ali Gomaa Mohamed Abdel Wahab was born in 1952 in Beni Suef, Egypt. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Islamic and Arabic Studies at Al-Azhar University in 1979, followed by a Master’s degree with distinction in Islamic Jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh) from the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Al-Azhar University in 1985. He then earned his PhD with first-class honors in1988.

  • Served as a Professor of Islamic Jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh) at the Faculty of Islamic and Arabic Studies for Boys at Al-Azhar University in Cairo.
  • Was appointed as the Grand Mufti of Egypt in 2003 and held the position until March 2012.
  • Contributed to the development of curricula for Islamic and Arabic studies both locally and internationally.
  • Participated in numerous international forums and was a prominent speaker in interfaith dialogue conferences.
  • Presented his research at approximately 150 academic conferences across more than 30 countries.

Sawsan Hassan Abbas Zaki

Ms. Sawsan Hassan Abbas Zaki studied at the English School in Heliopolis before enrolling at the American University in Cairo, where she graduated in 1970 with a major in Anthropology and a minor in Psychology. In 1969, she got married and embarked on her professional journey, marking the beginning of a career filled with dedication and impact.

Key Milestones in Her Career:

  • Worked at Al-Ahram Newspaper in the advertising department for foreign newspapers and magazines, gaining experience in media and advertising.
  • Moved to Abu Dhabi, where she worked at the Currency Council, which served as the central bank at the time, providing her with valuable expertise in the financial and banking sector.
  • Upon returning to Egypt, she joined the Imhotep Association, an organization dedicated to all forms of alternative medicine, where she devoted her efforts to supporting complementary and natural therapies.
  • Represented the "Parents and Children" Association after the passing of her late father, further strengthening her role in social and developmental work.
  • Later, she joined the Hassan Abbas Zaki Association, continuing her commitment to community development.

Nadia Hassan Abbas Zaki

Date of Birth and Education: Ms. Nadia Hassan Abbas Zaki was born in Cairo on October 23, 1964.She completed her secondary education at Om Ammar Secondary School in Abu Dhabi in 1982. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Cairo University, Faculty of Architecture, in 1988.

Professional Career:

  • Worked as an architect at Dar Al-Handasah from 1988 to 1990
  • Held the position of architect at Archiland from 1993 to 1996
  • Joined Archiland International as an architect from 1997 to 2000
  • Worked at TB Architects from 2001 to 2004

  • Board Member at Parents and Children Association until 2022.

Heba Hassabo

Treasurer

Heba Hassabo, a dedicated leader in development and social impact, hasbeen serving as CEO of the Dr. Hassan Abbas Zaki Association for Developmentsince 2022.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the American University in Cairo (AUC) in 2006, with a double minor in Business Administration and Psychology, equipping her with a unique blend of managerial and human-centric skills.

  • 2006 – 2012: Held various positions in human resources at multinational companies, gaining extensive experience in team development and management.
  • 2012 – 2021: Continued her career in local companies, allowing her to develop a deeper understanding of the Egyptian labor market and enhance her leadership capabilities.
  • 2022 – Present: Leading the Dr. Hassan Abbas Zaki Association for Development as Executive Director and Treasurer, playing a vital role in implementing impactful and sustainable development projects.
